JOB DESCRIPTION: 
Action Against Hunger is seeking a Child Protection Consultant for a period of approximately 5 months to work the program teams across the consortium to provide leadership and technical/expert support in building internal and external capacity on child protection and child protection in emergencies. The Consultant will ensure that child protection interventions are in line with international quality standards and procedures, international guidelines and best practice for child protection and contextualize globally proven approaches within Armenia.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The following tasks and responsibilities are expected to be accomplished over the consultancy period:
- Provide technical expertise and support to the relevant partner programme staff in the field of Child Protection;
- Support the partner organizations to deliver activities to the highest standards and ensure quality assurance;
- Assess capacity building needs of partner program staff and areas for improvement;
- Develop child-protection specific training packages (Parenting Without Violence key messages, psychological first aid, Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies, Child Protection in Emergencies, child-centered approaches), conduct workshops, trainings and other learning events for project teams, partners and other stakeholders;
- Ensure that partners understand and adhere to best practices and standards in child protection programming;
- Provide support to partners to arrange and set-up child protection corners/ space on the premises of their community centers based upon internationally/locally recognized standards and best practices;
- Support the community center staff to set-up effective child protection referral and detection mechanisms of child rights’ violations based on Armenian child protection legislation and national child protection system;
- Develop pre-post knowledge increase tests to measure impact of programming;
- Maintain strong awareness of the emergency response context in the Child Protection field and continuously explore information on needs, issues and constraints;
- Comply with Action Against Hunger’s policies and practice with respect to integrity, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures;
- Perform other responsibilities as agreed with the Program Manager.
EXPECTED OUTPUTS
- Well-designed training agenda of key topics to be covered;
- High quality presentations and training materials (including videos and visual aids) for all training exercises;
- Delivery of interactive and dynamic training sessions to partners;
- Partner’s understand and adhere to best practices and standards in child protection programming.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in child protection programmes or consultancy in Armenia; international experience is considered as an asset;
- Strong technical understanding of the child protection policies and procedures in emergencies and development contexts;
- Excellent knowledge on Armenian child protection legislation and system;
- Ability to identify the gaps in Child Protection in a given context to inform a holistic response for children;
- Experience in designing and facilitating training and capacity building events related to Child Protection;
- Excellent knowledge of various tools, guidelines and protocols promoting child protection practices;
- Experience of working in a programme consortium is considered as an asset;
- Ability to travel across Armenia, especially in border regions and communities;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Armenian languages;
- Commitment to upholding Action Against Hunger’s principles of do no harm and confidentiality;
- Understanding of and commitment to Action Against Hunger’s aims, values and principles, including rights-based approaches.

REMUNERATION/ SALARY: 
The total amount for consultancy fee to be negotiated based on the proposition and experience of the consultant.
Payment: Consultancy fee to be paid monthly upon the completion and approval of consultancy timesheet.
Travel: Transportation to the different provinces of the Republic of Armenia will be arranged directly by Action Against Hunger.
Accommodation: Hotel or guesthouse accommodation, if there is a need, will be arranged and covered by Action Against Hunger.
Insurance: The Consultant shall be responsible for his/ her own insurance.
Other: Any materials required to carry out the assigned consultancy (laptop, mobile phone, etc.), must be provided by the consultant.
