The Role: Over the past 5 years, Teach For Armenia has achieved considerable success as a start-up. As the Organization moves from the "start-up phase" to a new chapter, which will likely be characterized by growth and scale, the team must focus on building systems and structures that will ensure that it is building an enduring institution. The Director for Human Resources will play an important role in making this happen, in particular as it relates to its internal processes to support staff.
The Team: Currently, Teach For Armenia's Chief Operating Officer is implementing multiple org-wide initiatives in order to bolster culture, leadership, and performance management. The Director for Human Resources will support such projects by ensuring that the Organization adheres to Armenia's labor laws as well as international best practices. During the 2020 fiscal year, the Director for Human Resources will manage a Human Resources Manager in order to achieve this.

HR best practices: As Teach for Armenia strives to be one of the best places to work, it is looking for a candidate who has a strong understanding of local and international best practices in HR.
Building systems and structures: As the Organization moves out of the startup phase and prepares for scale and regionalization, the HR Director must be highly organized and able to build robust systems and structures that will support the Organization's growth.
Team management: In many ways, the HR Team needs to serve as an example for the rest of the Organization. As such, Teach for Armenia is looking for an HR Director who can model best practices in team management.
Change management: Teach For Armenia is currently navigating change as it regionalizes and prepares to scale. The HR Director must be able to help others to navigate ambiguity while generating solutions to dynamic challenges.
Facilitating adult learning: As the HR team rolls out new initiatives, it is important for the HR Director to lead learning opportunities for the staff that take into account how adults learn.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: 
For this role, the key responsibilities will include:
Building Systems and Structures (40%)
- Create the systems and structures necessary to support the Organization's ambitious growth plans, in particular around human resources and procurement;
- Ensure that Teach For Armenia's policies and processes are in compliance with Armenia's labor laws.
Oversee Talent Management Systems (25%)
- Partner with executives and team leads to ensure that they have a strong pulse on priorities in order to determine appropriate headcount projections;
- Put into place rigorous recruitment and selection processes in order to identify top talent;
- Ensure teams are equipped with the right tools and support in order to set meaningful goals;
- Assist teams through the Performance Review process.
Leading Team (20%)
- Equip the team with the resources necessary to reach goals while providing the space to lead;
- Cultivate strong coordination between the human resources teams and other functions;
- Promote strong project management with clear ownership and decision-making processes on the human resources team;
- Coach and develop direct reports so that they are prioritizing the right actions in order to achieve progress towards goals;
- Ensure that all members of the human resources team have individual goals as well as personalized professional development plans.
Supporting Learning and Staff Development (15%)
- Determine learning needs on the team and orchestrate opportunities for professional development, either for subgroups or the whole team;
- Ensure that all staff members across the Organization have personalized development plans and are being actively coached by managers.
Note: Teach For Armenia is a growing nonprofit working within a dynamic system. Its team must be agile as it grows in scale. Teach For Armenia is looking for leaders who are resilient and adaptive. That is to say that responsibilities may shift over time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
: 
Aside from the core competencies listed above, Teach For Armenia is also looking for the following qualifications:
- 10 years of professional experience, with 2-5 years of experience managing others is preferred;
- Experience working in Armenia's HR field;
- Fluency in Armenian and English languages;
- Demonstrated track record building effective HR systems and structures;
- Experience designing and facilitating adult learning is preferred;
- At least a bachelor's degree; however, many staff members at Teach For Armenia possess a master's degree or higher which is preferred.
