JOB DESCRIPTION
: 
The Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), is looking for a Marketing Expert (locally contracted, full-time, f/m) for the project "EU Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia" (EU-GAIA). This position is based in the ADC/EU-GAIA Project office in Yerevan. Under the overall supervision of the EU-GAIA Project Team Leader the incumbent will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring of the marketing support under the Specific Objectives 2 and 4 of the action. The Marketing Expert will also be responsible for collection of relevant marketing data, monitoring and reporting. This position is based mostly in the ADC/EU-GAIA project office in Yerevan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: 
- Coordinate the design and implementation of awareness raising activities on green agriculture in Armenia, including the development of an activity plan, the elaboration of information and education materials; and the procurement and supervision of external short-term service providers;
- Identify the marketing assistance needs among the producers, processors and other actors of the selected value chains and facilitate provision of services to the beneficiaries;
- Develop a marketing strategy for green and organic products at local and international level in cooperation with local institutions and stakeholders;
- Facilitate marketing and sales capacity development of producers and processors as well as service providers based on a capacity needs assessment (including training plan, dialogue fora, etc.);
- Provide needed market information (e.g. price information, available extension services, etc.) to selected producers and processors to enable better access to information, finance, and goods and services;
- Facilitate the design of specific labels and brands as well as suitable packaging of selected Armenian organic products in close coordination with the Project Grant Scheme Manager;
- Establish linkages and support producers to conclude supply agreements with local outlets, starting with awareness activities aiming at informing managers of outlets and chains of the commercial opportunities of organic products, making use of international best practices;
- Establish linkages with local and international outlets, wholesalers and traders and facilitate contracts for selected Armenian organic and green producers, including the set-up and promotion of organic shelves/ booths in local supermarkets;
- Plan and organise the participation of Armenian producers and processors at national and international trade fairs in close coordination with the project team;
- Analyze data to determine the efficiency of marketing activities, develop and communicate marketing plans, campaign results and recommendations to project team leader;
- Contribute to regular reporting to ADA and EU;
- Carry out any other job-related duties as required by the Supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
: 
- University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Development Studies, Economics or other relevant field; post graduate degree (master level or higher) is an asset;
- At least 7 years of relevant working experience in product marketing as well as market system development, preferably in the field of agriculture;
- Experience in conducting awareness raising campaigns and capacity development activities;
- Experience with organizing trade fairs/ exhibitions (including booth logistics);
- Proven knowledge of Armenian agricultural market and actors along the value chains is highly desirable;
- Understanding of international development cooperation principles and quality standards;
- Computer literate with sound knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator or CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Armenian languages; knowledge of German and/ or Russian languages would be an asset;
- Strategic thinking and excellent inter-personal/ social and communication skills; ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment;
- Adherence to the highest standards of ethics and integrity;
- Demonstrated gender, diversity and environmental competence, ability to integrate the gender perspective into tasks and activities;
- Excellent written and oral communication/ reporting, presentation skills in English language are required;
- Flexibility to adjust working hours to actual workload, as required;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Valid driving license category B is desirable.

The overall objective of the action is to contribute to the realization of shared and balanced inclusive growth in the Northern provinces of Armenia through boosting green agriculture and enhancing local value added by focusing on the following specific objectives:

Specific Objective 4: Selected organic agribusinesses are more competitive through access to inputs, equipment, infrastructures and services.
The Project worth 11.7 Mio. Euros will be implemented over a period of 42 months. To support the ADC Office for Technical Cooperation in Yerevan (OTC) in ensuring a successful implementation of this project, ADA is recruiting an experienced Marketing Expert starting in January 2020.
