JOB DESCRIPTION :
Médecins Sans Frontières is looking for a Project Coordinator Support. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the Project Coordinator (PC) in the security management and the coordination tasks, ensuring a smooth relation with local and national authorities and contributing to the context analysis and follow-up according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the smooth running of the project.RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Represent MSF externally together with the Project Coordinator (PC) or alone (when delegated) and negotiate on behalf of the project coordination in close cooperation with the PC. Assist in safeguarding and promoting MSF’s image externally;- Monitor the security risks, analyse contextual information and report to the PC;
- Assist in exploratory missions and assessments of the humanitarian needs of the population; draft the reports when requested;
- Assist the PC in Internal and External Communication sessions and events about MSF in order to improve awareness, understanding of MSF principles and services. Write minutes of meetings, and contribute to the meeting logbook;
- Ensure the continuity of relations/ networking with local and international actors (other NGOs, UN agencies, local authorities, media, etc.) and file and update field contacts and correspondence in order to ensure information sources accuracy and its availability on regular basis. Organize advocacy contacts and appointments for the PC;
- Translate and review documents and act as an interpreter when needed. Assist the PC in the drafting of correspondences with authorities and counterparts in order to ensure fluent and accurate communication flows;
- Prepare and conduct briefings on the project context to all project visitors, including those from the Headquarter, and new employees (national and international) in order to facilitate their integration and within the project environment;
- Ensure regular security briefings/ trainings of all staff of the project in collaboration with log of the project and consultation with the PC;
- Be reachable by phone and available to assist the PC with important context, security and operational issues that may occur outside of regular working hours unless otherwise agreed with the PC (e.g., holidays);
- Perform assigned additional responsibilities or tasks as required by the PC.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- University diploma level, preferably in the field of Social Sciences (Political Sciences, International Public Law, Anthropology, Economics);- Experience in and exposure to working in a complicated political, security and humanitarian environment;
- Experience in data collection, reporting and analysis;
- 2 years of previous experience in a similar job in the field of humanitarian aid with MSF or other (I)NGOs is desirable;
- Management experience is desirable;
- High level of English language (both oral and written), mission and local language; knowledge of Russian language is an asset;
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Internet/ social media);
- Excellent understanding of MSF’s principles and values;
- Knowledge of and interest in humanitarian issues;
- In-depth contextual knowledge and analysis skills;
- High level of knowledge of local culture and customs;
- Competencies: Results and quality orientation, teamwork and cooperation, behavioural flexibility, commitment to MSF principles, stress management.
