JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Democracy International (DI) is seeking a Communications Officer to support the five-year USAID-supported Protection, Inclusion, and Empowerment Activity in Armenia. The project supports local officials, civil society leaders, private sector actors, and marginalized groups in addressing legislative gaps, enhancing collaboration among local stakeholders in policymaking and implementation, increasing resources, and strengthening their responsiveness to crises. This is a full-time position based in Yerevan, Armenia. This position is only open to Armenian citizens.

The Communications Officer will report to the Communications and Outreach Specialist and support the program’s outreach activities and other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

- Assist the Communications and Outreach Specialist in the preparation of program communications materials/media;
- Assist the Communications and Outreach Specialist in the development of infographics, success stories and other materials to compliment technical activities and communicate key program messages;
- To conduct research for outreach materials on the project;
- Assist the Communications and Outreach Specialist in supporting the Armenian implementation partners/NGOs by providing advice on the production of outreach materials and reviewing the produced materials;
- Support the Communications and Outreach Specialist on quarterly and monthly reports, annual work plans, and other program reports;
- Support and participate in program activities at the discretion of the Activity Chief of Party;
- Perform other similar tasks and responsibilities that DI might request.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English language, PR & communications, international relations, or another related field;
- Minimum of three years of experience in the media, PR & communications or development sector including writing articles and/or TV reports, drafting press releases, success stories, social media posts and other outreach materials;
- Basic knowledge of social media marketing is preferred;
- Experience with USAID or other donor-funded development programming is desired;
- Professional fluency in English is required;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is required;
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Suit or other design tools is an asset.
