ОПИСАНИЕ ДОЛЖНОСТИ: 

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), also known as the UN Refugee Agency, operating in 130 countries in the world, is mandated to lead and coordinate international actions for the worldwide protection of refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless persons and to seek, together with Governments, durable solutions for them. In Armenia, UNHCR operates since 1992 and is engaged in provision of humanitarian assistance, legal counselling, and advocacy for the inclusion and integration of refugees. In parallel, UNHCR helps build the capacity of the authorities to ensure protection, wellbeing and integration of refugees.
This UNV assignment is part of UNHCR Armenia’s regular operation.

ОБЯЗАННОСТИ: 

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of UNHCR Armenia Representative, the UNV Executive Support Assistant will ensure effective and efficient functioning of the executive support function, full confidentiality in all aspects of assignment, maintenance of protocol procedures, management of information flow and follow-up on deadlines and commitments made. The UNV Executive Support Assistant will ensure the achievement of the following results:
- Arrangement of internal and external meetings;
- Assistance in informal translation and interpretation;
- Drafting of correspondence, documents and reports, some of which of highly confidential nature;
- Receiving and screening of all incoming calls and ongoing mail/ e-mail correspondence; maintaining proper follow-up and filing system;
- Assistance in preparation of visit and mission programmes and briefings, talking points and other materials;
- Maintenance of the Representative’s calendar and contacts with high-ranking visitors;
- Arrangement of appointments and meetings, acting as an interpreter when required and/ or taking minutes;
- Preparation of high-quality briefing materials for supervisor for appointments, meetings, missions;
- Maintenance of rosters of high-level partners, telephone lists;
- Preparation of correspondence, directives, comments on behalf of Representative for his/ her signature and making follow-up when required;
- Follow up on circulation files and assignments made by the Representative;
- Facilitation of information sharing with UN Country Team and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office;
- Follow up on deadlines and commitments made, take actions and coordinate collection and submission of reports prepared for the Representative;
- Ensure facilitation of knowledge building;
- Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

ТРЕБУЕМАЯ КВАЛИФИКАЦИЯ: 

Required experience:
- 3 years of experience in secretarial, administrative, programme experience is required at the national or international level;
- Computer literacy and experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), experience in handling of web-based management systems; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners;
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness;
- Excellent oral and written skills in Armenian and English; excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills;
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is a humanitarian and non-political organization mandated by the United Nations to protect refugees and help them find lasting solutions to their problems. UNHCR's activities are based on a framework of international refugee and statelessness law and standards that includes the 1951 United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol, 1954 and 1961 Statelessness Conventions, as well as an array of international and regional treaties on human rights and humanitarian law. The mandate of UNHCR is the international protection of refugees and stateless persons. The provision of international protection by UNHCR implies ensuring the basic human rights of refugees and stateless persons. UNHCR has presence in the Republic of Armenia since 1992, under a Co-operation Agreement signed with the Government. UNHCR's work in Armenia presently concentrates on capacity-building activities geared towards strengthening national authorities, laws and policies to ensure the proper handling of refugee and statelessness issues, the reception and care of refugees, the promotion of self-reliance of refugees and the realization of durable solutions. These are carried out in combination with other activities such as advocacy, information dissemination and monitoring. The internship shall give an opportunity to familiarize the intern with all of UNHCR protection activities with a focus on statelessness.
