: 
Tetra Tech ES, Inc. Branch in Armenia is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to provide technical analysis and support for large-scale electricity projects and emergency planning. This primarily includes supporting (i) the envisioned 400/500 kV HVDC Armenia-Georgia Back-to-Back (B2B) interconnection project that will enable further electricity trade and integration between the two countries, and (ii) public, private and other entities’ planning for energy supply shortages and disruptions, which will bolster Armenia’s energy sector resilience.
The purpose of the USAID Energy Secure Armenia Activity (“the Activity”) is to bolster Armenia’s energy security by promoting a shift to renewable energy sources (RES), furthering power market liberalization and trade, promoting greater energy efficiency (EE), and planning for emergency situations. The Activity assists Armenia’s executive and legislative branches, the private sector, and other energy stakeholders to diversify the country’s energy supply, reduce dependence on imported gas, lessen greenhouse gas emissions, enhance electricity system cybersecurity, increase cross-border electricity trade, and prepare for emergency situations, enabling the Armenian energy sector to serve as a vehicle of long-term economic growth.
This position involves full-time employment with Tetra Tech ES, Inc. Branch in Armenia, but is subject to discussion with candidates. Hiring may be contingent upon USAID approval. ОБЯЗАННОСТИ
: 
- Serve as local technical expert and lead Energy Secure Armenia’s technical assistance to the Armenia-Georgia B2B project during the procurement, system design and construction phases;
- Review and provide quality control for B2B project technical documents as needed, including feasibility studies, simulations, and technical specifications, drawings and schematics related to electrical equipment;
- Serve as local technical expert and lead Energy Secure Armenia’s technical assistance for the development of technology-agnostic solutions tailored to Armenia’s power system (e.g. pumped-hydro energy storage, battery energy storage, hydrogen, etc.);
- Design and contribute to trainings for the stakeholders on technical topics for B2B project and technology agnostic solutions developed for Armenia’s power system;
- Provide technical input to the system analyses and tabletop exercises for identifying and assessing the impacts of emergencies in the energy sector and adjacent sectors on power systems, including but not limited to electricity, gas and nuclear fuel supply disruptions, cyber-attacks, disruptions to electricity interconnections, unavailability of large generation units, natural disasters and blackouts;
- Contribute to the assessment of the preparedness of electricity transmission and distribution networks for emergency situations;
- Contribute to the assessment of potential technical impacts of incentive programs such as standby generation or interruptible tariffs on power systems;
- Coordinate closely with international power system engineers, subcontractors, and - Contribute to data collection and verification for the Activity’s monitoring, evaluation and learning efforts;
- Contribute to Activity communications products and success stories;
- Contribute to annual Activity work planning;
- Provide relevant inputs on all monthly, quarterly, annual USAID reports, ad-hoc communications or client requests; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
ТРЕБУЕМАЯ КВАЛИФИКАЦИЯ
: 
- Master’s degree in power systems, electrical or energy engineering, or related field;
- At least 15 years of professional experience as a power systems engineer in generation, transmission and/or distribution companies;
- In-depth knowledge of the Armenian power system, including demonstrated capacity to understand the existing challenges of the power system and the local context;
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to work independently are expected as well as an ability to present, summarize, and communicate complex content;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Armenian and English;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office programs;
- Demonstrate flexibility and dedication to assigned duties;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; and
- High level of professionalism and tactfulness.
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD in power systems, electrical or energy engineering, or related field;
- System operation and dispatch experience; and
- Experience in working on USAID- or other donor-funded projects in Armenia.
