JOB DESCRIPTION:
Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Yerevan is looking for a Translator.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Translate, edit and revise letters, reports, documents, texts, news articles, studies and presentations from English and the host country language into Arabic and vice versa;- Edit correspondence and letters and revise, review and improve the wording of texts written in Arabic;
- Accompany the Head of Mission and diplomats to attend meetings and conferences. Provide interpretation in their meetings and interviews with relevant stakeholders in the host country;
- Audit translated documents, review and compare the same with the target language in order to validate their correctness and consistency with standards and terminology adopted in MoFAIC and international organizations;
- Create a special dictionary of all terms related to the Mission to serve as a reference for the Mission staff;
- Use scientific references and experts to validate the vocabulary. Ensure that translated texts are linguistically, culturally, and grammatically comprehensible to the reader;
- Use appropriate and specialized dictionaries, vocabulary encyclopedias, websites, and reference books to ensure the accuracy of the translation, and select the exact terms;
- Adopt translation quality standards of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), the Australian National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) or the American Translators Association;
- Ensure commitment to legal obligations, codes of professional conduct and laws applicable in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and maintain confidentiality of documents;
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager, including monitoring news articles published about the UAE on newspapers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Languages (or equivalent) and 5 years of practical experience in the field of work/ or Master’s in Languages (or equivalent) and 3 years of experience/ or Doctorate in Languages (or equivalent) and one year of experience;- Communication skills;
- Working in a team spirit;
- Time management skills and ability to work under pressure;
- Ms. Office skills;
- Knowledge of the English language.
