О ПРОГРАММЕ:
UNDP has been working in Armenia since 1993 cooperating with people at all levels of the society and helping to withstand crisis, and drive sustainable growth that improves the quality of live for everyone. Since the onset of the compound crisis in Armenia as a result of the COVID-19 and the hostilities in and around Nagorno Karabakh UNDP has been delivering solutions at humanitarian-development nexus under its current workstream of crisis response and early recovery to meet the immediate needs of the vulnerable populations in the regions of the country, meanwhile addressing in a nuanced and sustainable manner a wide range of threats to the local livelihoods. Within the scope of its "Sustainable communities" Programme and the Project "Support to Post-conflict Recovery of the Most Vulnerable Communities and Groups in Armenia’" under Socioeconomic Development Portfolio UNDP is supporting the local vulnerable groups and communitieis most affected by the hostilities in and around Nagorno Karabakh to generate income and protect livelihoods through restored and facilitated access to resources, shelter, income generation, job creation, as well as increased local resilience through adaptation of energy-efficient solutions. UNDP complements the immediate humanitarian assistance and allows to start a chain reaction of closely linked and mutually reinforcing interventions in the local communities towards reducing the post-conflict vulnerabilities of the local populations and the displaced households. The Project will provide support to about 27,800 beneficiaries countrywide, particularly targeting the bordering regions of Syunik, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor.
In the aftermath of hostilities in and around Nagorno Karabakh, lots of people, including displaced populations across the country face shelter, food, protection, and livelihood needs, which should be addressed both through emergency and durable solutions. In addition, the conflict deepened the vulnerabilities that the COVID-19 has created and added new groups in need of support and protection, such as the war veterans and their families. With this in mind, the Project aims at contributing to the sustainable, tangible and people-centered post-conflict recovery of the most vulnerable communities and groups offering durable solutions at the humanitarian-development nexus. Considering the multitude of vulnerabilities, Project’s specific objectives are:
a) Build sustainable emergency livelihoods for the displaced populations in the regions of Armenia;
b) Support socioeconomic integration of the displaced population, war veterans and other vulnerable groups through various job creation mechanisms;
c) Maximize the benefits of socioeconomic recovery for the host communities and the displaced population through sustainable energy solutions.
