TERM:
up to a 4-month period
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Media Initiatives Center (MIC) invites a research company for up to a 4-month period to lead a research on the Media Consumption in Armenia. In coordination with MIC, the company will lead the design and implementation of this research. The ideal candidate should be experienced in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.
Media Initiatives Center and its partners – Yerevan Press Club, Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression and Media Diversity Institute – started the implementation of the European Union funded Initiative for Media Quality and Resilience (IMQR): Next Chapter in Media Empowerment project. It aims to enhance the capacity and resilience of Armenian media to act as trusted, independent, and effective actors. The project will offer professional media outlets numerous opportunities for capacity-building, as well as access to financial support that will strengthen their confidence and ability to produce fact-based, analytical, and investigative content. Furthermore, the project will help foster an enabling environment for independent media by contributing to legislative reform and media policy development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Contractor will design and implement the study in coordination with the IMQR project team represented by the partners. The study should continue the previous similar surveys of MIC or its partners, such as Freedom of Expression and Media Consumption in 2024 and 2023, or Media Consumption in Armenia in 2022.
The geographical coverage will include the country at large.
The study will apply mixed methods, including a national survey to identify patterns and trends in information flow and in information consumption habits across population. A representative sample should be used for the survey. The survey may be followed-up by focus groups with specific target groups, where information consumption patterns raise concerns or are striking different from other population groups (e.g. youth).
Other focus groups will target media practitioners for learning their needs and limitations in the profession and practice. These focus groups will investigate challenges and needs to meet the evolving consumption habits and to identify how they navigate and deal with these challenges.
Primary users of the study findings and recommendations will be the implementers and beneficiaries (media outlets) of the IMQR Next project.
The deliverables include raw data; inception, draft and final reports to be presented in Armenian and English, not to exceed 35 pages (excluding annexes) and containing Executive Summary, Methodology, Findings, Analysis, and Recommendations.
