ABOUT:
Stronger Services for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development is the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) joint project aiming at strengthening the basic service provision system in Armenia through a life-cycle approach and establishment of continuous care and support to children and adults with disabilities. This includes habilitation and rehabilitation, health, social and developmental services, all of which are extremely weak or not available in most regions of Armenia. The overarching goal of the Project is to create a system of disability assessment and service provision that in addition to providing services addressing issues identified by a medical diagnosis guarantees compliance with the rights of people with disabilities and promotes full participation in social and economic life. At the current stage, the Project identifies strategically located service provision/rehabilitation centers to fully equip and strengthen them, so they could serve as service provision hubs for certain regions. This will bring high-quality services closer to people throughout Armenia. In parallel, the Project will support the requalification of the current and new staff in the health, social and education sectors.
Moreover, special attention will be paid to the sub-branch of the Project – veteran support-created in response to the post-war crisis. It will support veterans through strengthening mechanisms and capacities for physical and/or psychological rehabilitation.
