Job Description
The AGBU Discover Armenia Program is a unique, immersive experience designed to connect Armenian teenage youth from around the world with their cultural roots. Participants engage in cultural, educational, and community service activities across Armenia, fostering a strong connection to Armenian heritage while gaining valuable insights and skills.
AGBU seeks a dynamic and dedicated Program Coordinator for the Discover Armenia program. This role is central to ensuring a meaningful experience for the participants by overseeing program logistics, managing participant communications, coordinating and communicating with partners, and ensuring a smooth, impactful program delivery. This position requires in-person presence during each Discover Armenia session, including travelling with and residing/chaperoning with the group.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Planning and Coordination:
- Design and implement detailed program itineraries, including cultural tours, workshops, community service projects, and educational sessions;
- Coordinate with local organizations, communities, and service providers to arrange, transportation, meals, activities, and accommodations;
- Work closely with the Director of Diaspora Youth Programs to align program objectives with AGBU’s mission and values.
Participant Engagement and Communication:
- Serve as the main point of contact for participants and their families, providing pre-departure support and responding to inquiries;
- Prepare and distribute pre-departure materials, including itineraries, packing lists, and cultural guidance;
- Facilitate orientation sessions and post-program evaluations to ensure a seamless experience for participants.
On-Site Program Management:
- Travel with the group and reside/chaperone with participants for the duration of each session, ensuring safety, supervision and adherence to AGBU policies;
- Oversee day-to-day activities during the program, ensuring the schedule is followed and that participants have a safe and enriching experience;
- Manage any challenges or conflicts that may arise among participants, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment;
- Provide leadership and support for Discover Armenia staff, volunteers, and local guides.
Team Recruitment and Training:
- Identify, help hire, and train a team of qualified program staff, including volunteers, counselors, and construction leaders, in coordination with the Director of Diaspora Youth Programs;
- Conduct training sessions to ensure the team is prepared to deliver a high-quality program experience aligned with AGBU standards;
- Provide ongoing support and feedback to staff throughout the program to foster a collaborative and effective team environment.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
- Develop, monitor, and manage the Discover Armenia program budget in coordination with the AGBU finance team;
- Track and manage program expenses, ensuring all expenditures align with the allocated budget;
- Prepare detailed financial reports post-program, including expense tracking and reconciliation.
Administrative and Logistical Support:
- Handle logistics for emergency planning and health protocols, prioritizing participant safety at all times;
- Maintain clear documentation of program activities, participant and parent feedback, and outcomes for future program planning and reporting;
- Assist AGBU Diaspora Youth Programs Director with related duties and support similar youth initiatives as needed.
Community and Partner Engagement:
- Build and sustain partnerships with local organizations, and communities in Armenia to enrich program content;
- Work with AGBU chapters and Armenian cultural organizations worldwide to promote the program and encourage participation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, or Cultural Studies related field;
- 2+ years of experience in program coordination, youth engagement, event planning, or related areas;
- Fluent in Armenian (Western or Eastern) and English; proficiency in additional languages is an asset;
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to the AGBU mission;
- Experience working with youth, preferably in an international or cross-cultural setting
Knowledge of Armenian history, culture, and heritage is a plus.
