The International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) is implementing Citizens Awareness and Participation in Armenia project to empower the citizens of Armenia. The objective of this 4-year project, funded by the USAID, is to increase citizen participation in
governance through the dissemination of information and by encouraging civic initiatives and advocacy. This project strives to promote a more transparent, responsive and democratic government by building the knowledge base and organizing capabilities of community members, and by improving their ability to communicate with authorities through the promotion of inter-sectoral dialogues between local residents, authorities, business, and non-commercial organizations. The IFES initiated its Civic Educators Corps, which includes 22 instructors in eight regions of the RA: Yerevan, Kotayk, Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Shirak, Gegharkunik and Syunik.
