JOB DESCRIPTION: 

YOUR ROLE
If you are an experienced professional in educational innovation, have expertise in Project-Based Learning (PBL) methodology, possess analytical and creative thinking, and would like to contribute your knowledge and experience to the development of education in Armenia’s rural communities, then the SMART Project-Based Learning Specialist position at COAF (Children of Armenia Fund) is for you. More details:

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Development and Implementation of PBL Methodology
- Develop and implement project-based learning content based on international best practices (“PBL Gold Standard”), aligned with COAF SMART Citizenship curriculum standards and learning objectives.
- Develop methodological guides and resources to support SMART Center instructors.
- Ensure that programs foster 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication.

2. Training and Professional Support of Facilitators
- Organize training courses, seminars, and consultations on PBL methodology.
- Support instructors in organizing the learning process, selecting appropriate assessment methods and improving teaching effectiveness.
- Apply exemplary teaching models through demonstration lessons or co-teaching.

3. Student Engagement and Learning Organization
- Design student-centered learning experiences that promote inquiry, creativity, and experimentation.
- Assist instructors in organizing educational processes that support students’ independent research, teamwork, and application of knowledge in practice.

4. Assessment and Effectiveness Analysis
- Develop assessment criteria and methods to evaluate students’ progress and analyze the impact of projects.
- Analyze data to improve the effectiveness of projects.
- Develop recommendations for the continuous development of PBL methodology.

5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish cooperation with educational leaders, teachers, local NGOs, businesses, and field specialists to provide students with opportunities to solve real-world problems.

6. Innovation and Research
- Study current trends, research, and best practices in project-based learning.
- Pilot innovative teaching tools, technological solutions, and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance educational processes.
- Document and share best practices and success stories of student projects.

7. Summer Programs
- Develop the themes and directions of summer programs and present them to the program team for approval.
- Plan all stages of project-based summer programs, including preparation, implementation, evaluation, and wrap-up.
- Collaborate with instructors to design projects aligned with the summer program theme.
- Support the planning and execution of the summer program’s closing ceremony.

8. Other Duties
- Support instructors in developing COAF-related projects.
- Coordinate teams formed outside of program groups to work on additional deliverables.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

YOU
We're expecting your best and require that:

YOU KNOW
- Project-Based Learning (PBL) methodology and modern educational approaches, as you have at least 3 years of experience in education.
- Armenian and English fluently, both written and spoken (knowledge of Russian will be considered an advantage).
- How to use digital tools, including project management platforms.
- How to communicate effectively, with excellent public speaking skills.

The Children of Armenia Charitable Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches aimed at improving the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF's target development areas are education, healthcare, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 51 villages in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Gegharkunik, Shirak and Tavush regions. Since 2015, COAF has developed and started implementing a new vision - Smart Initiative. COAF Smart is designed to advance a generation across the rural world through education that will benefit individuals, societies and the environment. COAF Smart will become an exemplary model of development and will be replicated in other regions and communities throughout Armenia. The first COAF Smart Center was inaugurated on 27 May 2018 near the village of Debet, Lori Region, with an outreach to over 150,000 rural residents.
