JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Media Initiatives Center (MIC) is seeking a Media Monitoring Specialist/Mentor to monitor the performance of media outlets receiving financial support under the EU-funded project Media Quality and Resilience: Next Chapter in Media Empowerment. The Specialist will work under the supervision of the Managing Director and in close cooperation with the Project Manager, providing performance monitoring, editorial mentoring, and analytical support throughout the implementation of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

- Work closely with the project team to plan and monitor the performance of media outlets receiving financial support for content production and strategic development projects;
- Participate in the selection of content production sub-grantees;
- Develop performance assessment tools, criteria, and analytical reports;
- Monitor the quality of media content produced under supported projects and identify areas for improvement;
- Conduct regular consultations with partner media outlets to assess their needs, develop tailored improvement plans;
- Provide editorial mentoring and professional guidance to content producers throughout the production process to ensure high-quality outputs;
- Develop recommendations based on monitoring findings and follow-up on their implementation by partner organizations;
- Support programme reporting, monitoring and evaluation, partner data collection, and other administrative tasks as required;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

- At least 10 years of professional experience in journalism and content production or related fields;
- University degree in journalism, media, communications, or a related field;
- Strong understanding of the Armenian media landscape and key challenges facing independent media outlets.
- Proven experience in media content monitoring, editorial assessment, and development of recommendations.
- Professional expertise in at least three of the following areas: digital and multimedia content production; media ethics and professional standards; conflict-sensitive and inclusive reporting; audience engagement and analytics.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor media professionals, identify challenges, and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Native proficiency in Armenian and fluency in English, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good command of digital tools and standard IT applications relevant to media production, monitoring, and reporting.
