Strategic Development Agency (SDA) is looking for a Business Consultant to support projects in agriculture, tourism, hospitality, light industry, SME development, vocational education, skills development and related fields. The role combines business advisory services, field research and partner engagement, with regular communication with projects’ beneficiaries and stakeholders.
You will contribute to work that strengthens value chains, improves services and promotes climate resilient, environmentally responsible practices. Assignments will range from market research and business planning to partnership development, offering opportunities to build consulting experience with private sector representatives across Armenia.
ՊԱՐՏԱԿԱՆՈՒԹՅՈՒՆՆԵՐ՝
The job responsibilities of the Business consultant include, but are not limited to the following: - Support the Project Management in planning and implementation of the interventions with the private sector; - Plan and conduct applied research, including market systems analysis, demand and supply studies, stakeholder mapping and assessments of business needs. Use interviews, surveys, desk research and field visits to inform business advice, capacity building activities and project planning. - Provide tailored advice to SMEs, producer groups and project partners on business plans, marketing, market access, service development and implementation priorities. Support them to prepare practical business plans, marketing strategies, market entry plans etc. needed to develop their products, services and sales. - Support the design and delivery of capacity building activities, consultations and workshops; explain technical findings in clear language for different audiences. - Identify opportunities for cooperation among businesses, service providers, communities and public institutions, and help partners turn agreed actions into results. - Integrate green and climate considerations into business advice, such as resource efficiency, climate resilient agriculture and sustainable value chains, with input from technical specialists where needed. - Work with project teams and external experts to plan activities, track progress, document lessons and prepare concise reports and presentations. - Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation by helping design data collection tools, collecting and checking data when needed, tracking progress against indicators, and summarizing findings to support learning and reporting. - Contribute to project progress reports and prepare clear communication materials, including presentations, success stories, project updates and summaries of results for partners and other audiences. - Carry out other tasks as may be required connected to the projects’ implementation.
ԱՆՀՐԱԺԵՇՏ ՈՐԱԿԱՎՈՐՈՒՄՆԵՐ՝
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, agriculture, development studies, environmental studies or a related field. - At least three years of relevant experience in business advisory services, market research, SME support, development projects or a related area. Experience may come from consulting firms, NGOs, businesses, donor-funded development projects. - Knowledge of Armenia’s economic and development context, particularly in agriculture, tourism, hospitality, light industry, SME development, vocational education, and skills and knowledge development. - Experience with inclusive market systems development, value chain analysis, vocational education or skills development programmes is an advantage. - Strong analytical and consulting skills, including the ability to assess client needs, analyse qualitative and quantitative information, and develop practical recommendations, business plans or marketing strategies. - Strong writing, presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with entrepreneurs, farmers, local partners and project teams. - Knowledge of social media and digital marketing tools is an advantage. - Excellent Armenian and advanced working English, including the ability to write clear emails and reports. - Good command of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. - Knowledge of green economic development, climate adaptation and sustainable agriculture, and motivation to deepen this knowledge. - Strong organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines. - Commitment to honesty, responsibility, confidentiality, political neutrality and professional conduct. - Willingness and ability to travel across Armenia for field work for at least 50% of working time.
