Teach For Armenia is dedicated to ending educational inequity in Armenia and expanding opportunities for all children to unlock their full potential. About The Team
The Development Team is a key part of Teach For Armenia’s Advancement Division, dedicated to mobilizing resources to support the organization’s mission of educational equity. This division plays a pivotal role in securing funding from diverse sources, including private donors, public institutions, and philanthropic organizations, ensuring the financial sustainability of Teach For Armenia’s programs and initiatives. Working in close collaboration with the Managing Director of Advancement and the CEO, the Development Team crafts strategies to engage supporters, build lasting partnerships, and drive the resource mobilization efforts that enable the organization to achieve its ambitious goals.
The Role:
The Development Officer will spearhead fundraising for Teach For Armenia, primarily within Armenia, and through crowdfunding. In Armenia, the Development Officer will work to secure donations and partnerships across all funding streams: individuals, corporations, and foundations. They will manage every stage of the fundraising process for their portfolio of accounts, including research, cultivation, and stewardship of donor relationships and communication (i.e. donor spotlights, etc.). This Development Officer will also plan, implement, and oversee crowdfunding campaigns for Teach For Armenia.
This is an external-facing role that requires a proactive, sales-oriented approach to rally support and secure financial resources for the organization. Collaboration is key, as the Development Officer will work closely with the Managing Director of Advancement, fellow Development Officers, and teams across the organization—including Marketing and Communications, programmatic teams, as well as with Finance and Compliance—to implement a fundraising strategy and achieve targets.
The role demands exceptional skills in relationship-building, communication, project management, and administration. Proficiency in fundraising techniques and experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and tools are essential for tracking leads, follow-ups, and managing the overall fundraising process.

The Work:
For this role, the key responsibilities will include:
Fundraising Strategy (35%):
- Lead the development and implementation of diverse fundraising strategies in Armenia to achieve the organization’s financial goals.
- Work closely with team members across the organization to ensure effective communication and alignment on fundraising goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, recommending adjustments as necessary.
- Stay informed about trends in fundraising, philanthropy, and nonprofit management.
- Design and implement international crowdfunding campaigns.
Donor Engagement (20%):
- Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from new and existing donors in Armenia, focusing on long-term relationships across diverse funding streams such individuals, foundations and corporations.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors and key stakeholders.
- Cultivate strong relationships with existing and potential donors, converting them into long-term champions for the organization’s mission.
- Ensure that donor records are maintained in compliance with confidentiality and data protection policies in the respective data platforms.
Oversee proposals and reporting (20%):
- Conduct research to identify potential new funding opportunities in Armenia.
- Lead the development and submission of funding proposals and impact reports within portfolio, while working closely with the programmatic teams to align funding needs with organizational priorities and the Chief Finance & Compliance Officer to ensure comprehensive and accurate budgets.
- Prepare and pitch funding proposals, as well as report on the use of acquired funds.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of proposals and reports to funders, meeting all requirements and providing updates on program outcomes and impact.
Event Coordination (15%):
- Organize fundraising events, such as galas, auctions, and donor appreciation events.
- Support Marketing and Communication team in logistics, marketing, and post-event follow-up to ensure the success of each event.
- Manage event budgets and work with vendors, volunteers, and staff to ensure smooth event execution.
Supporting Org-Wide Initiatives (10%)
- Actively participate in organization-wide events and initiatives to contribute to the organizational culture and strategic objectives.
- Support cross-functional working groups and projects as needed, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals

- Strategic Relationship Management: Expertise in building and maintaining relationships with private donors, public institutions, and philanthropic organizations. Proven ability to engage stakeholders and cultivate partnerships that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Extensive experience in developing compelling proposals, donor reports, and funding applications, ensuring alignment with donor priorities while effectively communicating organizational impact and funding needs.
- Crowdfunding and Event Fundraising: Expertise in planning, executing, and managing diverse fundraising initiatives, including major giving campaigns, crowdfunding efforts, donor engagement events, and annual appeals, ensuring success through strategic outreach and engagement.
Additional Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience in Development and Fundraising;
- Fluency in Armenian and English (required), The knowledge of Russian will be considered as advantage;
- At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree (required) in Economics, Finance or other relevant field;
- A meaningful personal connection to the Armenian context is required, both in Armenia and the Armenian diaspora.
